Pennies for Pets Our low cost spay/neuter program Pennies for Pets was founded in 1997 by HSSI board member Edna Fredman. Over 4,000 animals have been neutered/spayed through this program since it began, preventing countless unwanted litters and the resulting suffering of innocent animals. On the first day of every month we sell spay/neuter vouchers for $35 each. There is a limit of one voucher per household per month due to high demand. If you are interested in receiving a voucher, we recommend that you arrive at the shelter by 11:00 a.m. on the first because it is "first come first serve" and there is usually a line. The shelter does not open until 12:00 p.m. We usually sell out of the vouchers within one hour's time. Be prepared. In order to receive a voucher, you must have $35 IN CASH. Checks and credit cards are not accepted. The voucher is also not refundable, even if lost. Many but not all veterinarians
participate in our "Pennies for Pets" program. For further information
regarding this matter, contact the Humane Society at (618) 457-2362. A
list of participating veterinarians is available. To use the voucher,
you will take it to a participating veterinarian, who will send it back
to us. We match your $35 with another $35 to pay the vet a total of $70
for each procedure. At the time you purchase a
voucher you will receive a list of veterinarians. Pennies for Pets |
